This program was built from over 20+ years of law enforcement, 5+ years of Tae Kwon Do mixed with Judo and Hapkido, and 10+ years of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It is taught by Officer Ken Stahl of the Beaver Police Department with an additional staff of dedicated and professional instructors. The course is focused on escaping holds and grabs and using Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to escape from the ground. This may sound similar to what is practiced today as MMA (Mixed Martial Arts,) commonly seen on television in the format of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). Although some techniques may look familiar, this course is not designed to make you the next MMA superstar. The mindset for the S.A.V.E. program is to escape with as minimal damage as possible to both parties (attacker and victim). This can only be accomplished by understanding the mindset and goal of the attacker. An attacker whose goal is a sexual assault behaves differently than an attacker whose goal is simply beating or mugging you. Understanding this concept is critical to surviving an encounter.
